CHURCH NEWS

It was with much sadness that we heard the news on Easter morning that Chris North died in the early hours. Chris and Bill’s love for Fladbury Village and Church over so many years has been immense. Together, they contributed so much to the life of the community here, and to the Five Alive Parish. Above all, they with their family have been wonderful friends to so many people. Chris will be greatly missed. Her faith was gently assured. Chris radiated the peace and the joy of Christ’s presence in her, and she recognised with such joy the same in others too. In our sadness we give thanks to God for all Chris showed others of His love. Our prayer is with Bill, Kate, Liz and Jo and their whole family. May Chris rest in God’s peace and rise in His glory. Arrangements for a service (required by Covid19 guidance to be private) are presently being made.

“Praying Together on Sunday at 5’ (at home)” is available to read from the Five Alive website, and the same service “online via Zoom” will take place at 5.00pm. You are warmly welcomed to join us. Please let me, Sarah, priest@five-alive.co.uk; know if you would like to receive the Zoom

link. We intend to resume (restricted) public worship at Fladbury on Sunday 25th April at 11.00am. (Covid guidance will be followed to include face masks, hand sanitiser and social distancing).

Open church buildings – Fladbury Church will be open for individual private prayer on Sunday (10am – 4.00pm). Please see the notice on church notice boards and the Five Alive Parish website for details of other churches being open one day a week. We hope you shall find comfort in your visit.

Revd Sarah

CONGRATULATIONS

41 years as a Governor of Fladbury CE First School – This was a headline in Fladbury School’s Fanfare newsletter last week, above the following article…..

Yesterday afternoon in the glorious sunshine we celebrated the long service of one of our school Governors. Mrs Pamela Stubbs lives in Fladbury (Coach Drive), her children went to school here and that is when she became a Governor. Yesterday we said a big THANK YOU as we recognise her long service and commitment of 41 years to Fladbury School. During that time Mrs Stubbs has held many different strategic roles, been to lots of meetings and sports days, seen head teachers, teachers and children come and go, raised money to improve the school buildings and was instrumental in organising our 150th birthday with Bishop John in attendance. We were so pleased Mr Mark Jackson, another Governor who is also High Sheriff of Worcestershire, Lieutenant Colonel, OBE, was able to award Mrs Stubbs with a recognition of service award and the children presented her with flowers, a card and an afternoon tea for two. Thank you Pam for all you have done and continue to do for our school and the community.

Rachel, husband Musa and Bonnie are all doing amazingly well.’ Rachel and Musa moved from London to Leamington Spa 4 weeks ago which now means all three daughters and families are living nearby.

FLADBURY PARISH COUNCIL

Annual Parish Meeting – Monday, April 19th

Unfortunately, we will have to hold this meeting by Zoom. In recent years we have been able to attract an audience of up to 100 people to the Village Hall to report on the year and discuss important topics such as housing development, traffic etc. If there are any topics you wish to see included in the agenda, please let me know by this Friday. The agenda will be published over the weekend and the link to join the meeting made available.

As things stand, we may not be able to conduct future meetings by Zoom as the legislation permitting this expires in early May. Although many of us would welcome meeting again in person, to do so in May when many restrictions are still in place might be too early. Discussion on this continues.

Network Rail – Avon Bridge

You will have received a letter from Network Rail – more detailed information on the impact of this work will be communicated soon and before work commences on the 19th.
