A new facility in Fladbury!
COFFEE IN THE CLUB! Fladbury Social Club are pleased to announce a new initiative. The club will be opening on Friday and Saturday mornings 8.30-12 noon for coffee and cakes. We are opening on Friday 1st October so please come along and join us. The idea is to widen the appeal of the club so that everyone in the village can come and use this wonderful village venue. Membership or otherwise is not a problem if you are not buying alcohol!
CHURCH NEWS AND SERVICES
Our Harvest Appeal – We are fortunate in this country to harvest food and natural resources from land and sea all the year round. Though it is in autumn, that emphasis is on a Harvest Season – a time to express thankfulness for the gifts we have been given and all whose work helps to produce healthy and sustainable harvests the world over and to think of and share our plenty with any who are in need.
The Five Alive Harvest Appeal is once again raising funds 50:50 for Pershore Foodbank and Farm Africa. Farm Africa works with “farmers in eastern Africa to improve crops, protect the environment and develop business in rural areas.” There are two ways to make a donation:
· Online via the link: 5AliveHarvestAppeal2021 (virginmoneygiving.com)
· By cheque payable to “The Parish of FMWCC” in an envelope marked “Harvest” and delivered to The Rectory or to one of the wardens in your village.
Last year we raised the fabulous amount of £1200. In showing our gratitude for the abundance of nature’s bounty we have so readily available around us, it would be wonderful for our local foodbank and Farm Africa if we could match this sum in 2021.
Physical gifts of tinned and packeted food are also welcome at Harvest services (see below) – these will be added to the Pershore Foodbank collections.

Just to say…..
On Saturday, I, Jane, attended a private 80th Birthday lunch party in the Village Hall. The invitation said “hot lunch” and guests had to choose beforehand what they wanted from a menu. The delicious lunch was prepared and beautifully presented and efficiently served by Four All Seasons catering – with Carol-Anne and Nigel in charge. The whole event was a very good advert for Four All Seasons Catering and for Fladbury Village Hall!

FLADBURY FOOTBALL CLUB
Moving up to Division One, we have played 3 games so far this season, all away from home. Our first game was against Inkberrow who finished equal top of the league last season only to miss out being champions due to a goal difference of just minus one goal. We were then narrowly beaten by Broadway 3-2 despite being ahead twice and them scoring in the 90th minute. Last Sunday we picked up our first 3 points with a 2-1 win over Offenham and we’re now 5th in the league.
Our first home game is this Sunday 3rd October in Fladbury KO 10.30am against Bretforton who usually finish in the top 3 most seasons so another very tough game. Then on Sunday 10th October – Home game v Titans (cup), Sunday 17th October – Home game v Mickleton Rangers and on Sunday 24 October – Home game v Evesham Working Mens Club (league winners last year). All support will be welcome. Support Village Life – support Your Local Team!
Peter Dickenson 861494 or 07780 995504
PS – we’re delighted to confirm that Simon from The Anchor has very kindly agreed to help the Club with drinks and food at his pub after home games for which we’re extremely grateful.

FLADBURY PARISH COUNCIL
· Parish Councillor Vacancy. If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor or would like to know more please contact me for more information or a chat. We meet once a month for about two hours with the rest of any business usually carried out by email.
· Dog Fouling. PLEASE clean up after your dog, particularly but not only, on the Recreation Ground where adults and children play sport. If you see others not doing so, please remind them.
· Coal Wharf. The Environment Agency have now finished the project to remove and replace the old sluice as part of flood prevention. We have gained two brand new and rather smart benches in the process. The EA are looking at how the old sluice might be displayed on the wharf as part of our industrial heritage.
· Road Closure. Station Road will be closed for up to five days from October 26th. This is for investigatory work on the crack in the footway on the railway bridge.
· Field on Broadway Lane. It is uncertain why the investigatory work carried on the field on Broadway Lane but it was being carried out on behalf of the landowner. As things stand, Fladbury has no allocation for new housing and for any application to be successful, it would have to be agreed by the Parish Council. However, if government policy relaxes the rules around the planning process for new housing that could all change. The Conservative government are reviewing this situation currently having faced a revolt from some of its backbenchers. My view is that the work on the field on Broadway Lane is speculative and if government policy changes, we may see an application coming forward. Watch this space!
· The Field and the Nait. Since the sad passing of David Wynn, the future of the field and the Nait have been the subject of some speculation. There have now been developments and the Parish Councill are calling a PUBLIC MEETING on Friday 22 October at 6.30pmin the Village Hall to consider the situation.
· Pool Garden. A new piece of play equipment has now been ordered along with new seating and this should all be installed in the next few weeks.
· Wrubble – Planning Application. Further consultation in respect of the access has just ended. The Parish Council continues to object strongly.
· County Minerals Plan. Working with our neighbours in Charlton and Cropthorne, we are preparing a further submission to the consultation process.
· Next Meeting – 7pm on Monday 18 October in the Pavilion
Ian Southcott, Chair – 861061 email: iandjsouthcott@aol.com
Lynne Yapp, Clerk – email: clerk@fladburyparishcouncil.co.uk – PLEASE NOTE THIS CORRECTED EMAIL ADDRESS

Prior to the new table, table tennis was played on a table I rescued from a skip. This is now available for use somewhere else and needs removing from its present home in Louise Craske’s garage. It is two large flat wood boards, stored flat, with simple metal frames to support it when in use. If you are interested in having it in your garden or garage, please let me know – Jane on 860531. If no-one wants it, we shall be seeking help in disposing of it!
DEFIBRILLATORS
Many of us know there are defibrillators in the village should they be needed in case of emergency situations. Well before the pandemic, a team of facilitators was formed and trained under the guidance of retired GP Felix Borchardt. Now is the time to refresh the team and perhaps recruit new members. If you are interested in helping, please contact Felix on 01386 860314 (leaving a message on his answerphone if you can’t reach him)
