As you will have probably noticed, scaffolding has been erected around the Lychgate at the cemetery. Snape Construction will be starting work to take down the damaged Lychgate structure w/c Monday 17th May. Materials for re-use will be removed and stored safely off site, and any remaining debris will be removed and disposed of. Following completion of this activity, there will be a safe interim access to the cemetery for people wishing to tend graves and memorials.
The replacement wooden structure will be fabricated off-site in Snape’s joinery shop and the intention will be that the rebuild will commence some 12 to 15 weeks later, i.e. around mid-late August.
During the demolition and subsequent rebuilding of the Lychgate, we ask that people delay tending graves and memorials until the site is safe again. During the period between the lychgate being taken down and reconstructed, please take extra care and comply with any site rules put in place by Snape Construction.
