Keeping In Touch 61

Next week, one of the instigators of Keeping in Touch is leaving Fladbury, hopefully not for long. Louise Bugg and the whole family are moving to Crowle. On behalf of us all, I thank Louise for being one or our signpost people, and more, and wish all the family well.

They hope to be back in Fladbury when a house becomes available for them to buy – or something smaller for them to buy for me, Jane! Please let us know if you know or hear of anything. Meanwhile, they will be visiting Fladbury quite a lot – I hope!

FLADBURY PARISH COUNCIL

The next meeting will be on Monday, April 19th and is the Annual Parish Meeting. In recent years this has been held in the Village hall and we have enjoyed a good turn out of up to 100 people to discuss some key issues affecting the village. This year, as last, the pandemic precludes such a gathering so we will be conducting the meeting by Zoom. If you have issues or matters you would like to discuss, then please let us have your ideas. We will, of course, cover topics such as future housing development, traffic calming, the Minerals Plan amongst others. We will also look at inviting speakers from the County Council or other bodies if required. The agenda will be published in advance and a Zoom link made available for residents to join the meeting. Please try and attend and have a think about what you would like discussed.

Minerals Plan

Further public consultation is to take place and in the meantime we are seeking a meeting with County Council officers to express our concerns.

Network Rail – River Avon Bridge.

We have a further meeting scheduled for next Tuesday to seek answers on some of the outstanding issues, particularly in respect of hgv routing.

The sign on Rectory green is looking a little forlorn but refurbishment is on the way!

·       Charlton Church porch is open each day from 10am to 4 pm with a box to receive donations of non-perishable food items eg cereals, tinned foods and soups, tea/coffee, sugar, biscuits, pasta, rice, UHT milk, instant mash, together with basic toiletries. Thank you for your generosity– Julian Hawley 860420

·         Fladbury Church Porch is also open for donations. Thanks to Carol Rosier for helping to organise the collection for some years. Christine Farrell has now taken over from Carol and, because she also works at the foodbank, knows that, in addition to the above, particular needs are tinned rice puddings and tinned custard, sponge puddings and small packets of sugar. If you have any queries, please ring Christine on 861689

Money can be donated by bacs with a standing order or a one-off donation. Pershore Foodbank bank account details are sort code: 20 98 61, account No: 50714356..

RE-CYCLING

·         Does anyone know of a charity which is collecting milk bottle tops please? – foil or plastic. Some of us are still collecting them but the original charities no longer want them.  Please let me, Jane, know if you can help.

·         Ann Stephens has several recent Country Living magazines which she would like to pass on.  Please ring Ann on 860320 if you would like them.

·         Used ink cartridges can still be left in my porch at 6 Woodward Parks for Zoe to raise money for her educational trip to Vietnam

THINGS TO DO…..

Paint a Pebble for Lent, looking forward to Easter, and put them along the church path or somewhere round  the village and share beauty and creativity and skill and words of peace and joy and hope and  love and thankfulness

Jigsaw Puzzles

Many thanks to the Bugg family in Butt Furlong for housing jigsaw puzzles in their porch during the lockdown. With their moving away, Sue Hildesley has kindly offered to house jigsaw puzzles in her porch at Spring Cottage in Lazy Lane. There are quite a few for borrowing and swapping which Sue will change about when space allows – and will take them to charity shops when restrictions allow! If you have any queries, please contact Sue on 861237.

OUT AND ABOUT…..

·         Julie Bowler of Cropthorne was walking past Spring Hill Farm last week and there were House Martins flying about. They were presumably flying through as they had gone when she past later in the day.

·         As now is the time for sowing and planting and growing in the great outdoors, farmers request that dog owners prevent their dogs from running across newly ploughed and planted fields

·         Commttee members of Fladbury Community Orchard &  Nature Reserve are delighted that so many people walk or run through and round the Orchard and Reserve and welcome all to share the beauty of springtime but, from now until flowering is over, please do not walk or run across the wild flower meadow as the flowers are beginning to grow. This also includes dogs!

And a reminder…..

If you need some help or information or just a chat, our remaining Signpost people will oblige…..

CHAIR YOGA

I’m trying to gauge how much interest there would be for a chair Yoga, Zoom Yoga session – initially at this stage, a one-off session with a view to more, depending on interest. There is so much you can still do from a chair which can be extremely beneficial to someone who has reduced mobility. At a time when it’s even more difficult to get out and exercise it will be useful but also an opportunity for those who perhaps aren’t able to see others at the mo, a friendly group to join while having a nice stretch. Please do contact me if you are interested
