Further Update on Ultrafast Broadband Scheme 18th November 2021 – DCMS Emails

Now that our scheme has finally been approved by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), everyone who signed up to the scheme should now have received an email with the headline: UK Gigabit Voucher Scheme – action required”. You should follow the link in the email to confirm your details and that you wish to proceed with the scheme in order that a voucher towards the costs can be issued. Please be aware that if you do not give your agreement within 28 days of this email, DCMS may cancel your supplier’s request for a voucher.

Please note that this is just the first stage in the scheme to fund Openreach to install the optical fibre cables throughout the Village necessary to enable Ultrafast Broadband to be offered by a number of ISPs (Internet Service Providers), for example, BT, EE, Plusnet etc. Other ISPs are likely to offer similar deals once the fibre network is in place. Your current contract will not be impacted until the cabling is in place and your ISP offers you a new deal to upgrade your Broadband speed. Costs will be confirmed by your ISP when this offer is made.

Anyone who is interested in joining the scheme but has yet to sign up can register at:

broadband@charlton-worcestershire.org.uk

You will need to provide the following details:

Name, Address, Telephone number & Email address

Business name if appropriate, and also the company registration number if a Limited Company

For sole traders we also need your Unique Tax Reference number.

Please note, we have confirmation from Openreach that no-one who signs up for the scheme will have to pay VAT.
