FLADBURY PARISH COUNCIL

·         Fladbury Mill, Field and Nait.  At the recent public meeting held in the Village Hall, we updated the village on the situation regarding the Mill and its surrounding land since David Wynn first indicated his desire to gift the field and the Nait to the village. Since those discussions began, the pandemic has intervened and sadly David passed away in July. In his will he has left the Mill itself to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (www.spab.org.uk). This charity is the UK’s oldest specialising in historic buildings having been founded over 140 years ago.

The field and the Nait have been left to the village and the Parish Council and we have to prepare a management plan to be agreed by the estate’s executors. We sought the support of the community and the 100+ people at the meeting unanimously provided their agreement to prepare such a plan and that is now underway.

The process of probate will take some months and in the meantime, the Mill, the field and the Nait remain in the ownership of the estate and the Nait itself will remain closed for the time being.

The presentation delivered at the meeting will be available on the village website and hopefully the village Facebook page.

·         Wrubble Planning Application. The application to establish an aggregates recycling plant on the old mushroom farm site next to the crematorium has been approved by the County Council. This was despite the protestations of Wychavon and the objections lodged by the Parish Council, the crematorium operators and the glasshouse business, EVG. In our view this was simply the wrong place for a business that will inevitably create noise, dust and be a visual blot on the landscape. The HGV traffic generated will also be problematic and the site’s proximity to the crematorium and the residents immediately to the north of the site will result in a considerable impact on the garden of remembrance and the families living close by.

·         Housing Development. If you haven’t returned your snapshot survey on future housing, please do so, in order that we can understand your views on how our community might develop in the future

·         Next Meeting – 7pm on Monday 15 November in the Pavilion

Ian Southcott, Chair – 861061 email: iandjsouthcott@aol.com

Lynne Yapp, Clerk – email: clerk@fladburyparishcouncil.co.uk

BUSES

Thanks to Margo Townend for sending the following to KIT

I went into the bus depot in Worcester and asked if we are allowed to go on the school bus  now which comes through Fladbury. I know it’s only 1 a day but better than nothing.

POLICING from Ian Baldry – Fladbury Neighbourhood Watch

Ladies and Gents

P.C. Paul Brown who until recently has been the Safer Neighbourhood officer for Fladbury has been transferred across to Broadway to be replaced by P.C. Ben Trowman.

I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to Ben Trowman by Paul. Ben has been a police officer for 21 years having served the last 5 years with the West Mercia Police. His most recent appointment has been working as a Rural and Business Crime Officer; with his current speciality being a Wildlife Crime Officer (WCO).

Prior to joining the Police Service, Ben was a retained fire fighter for 10 years based in Broadway being the recipient of the Fire Brigade medal for Outstanding Service following the rescue of 36 people.

Married for 19 years with two children, Ben is also a very keen cyclist. Do not be surprised if you meet him in the village on his bicycle familiarising himself with the area!!!

I am sure that you will all join me in extending a very warm welcome to P.C. Ben Trowman and our thanks and best wishes to P.C.Paul Brown.

If you need to send an email to Ben his email address is ben.trowman@westmercia.pnn.police.uk. If he is off duty there will be an inevitable delay in responding. If you also copy the email to eveshamtsrw.snt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk this will ensure that another member of the Safer Neighbourhood Team will pick it up in his absence and if necessary respond accordingly.

TABLE TENNIS

Table Tennis is played on a super new table tennis table in the Village Hall during Games Cafe on Wednesday mornings. If you would like to use it at other times, please contact Games Cafe Organiser Sally Hutchinson on 861206.

Prior to the new table, table tennis was played on a table I rescued from a skip. This is now available for use somewhere else and needs removing from its present home in Louise Craske’s garage. It is two large flat wood boards, stored flat, with simple metal frames to support it when in use. If you are interested in having it in your garden or garage, please let me know – Jane on 860531. If no-one wants it, we shall be seeking help in disposing of it!

And non-one seems to want it so will someone please help us dispose of it?
